Pineapple Mint Smoothie
Pineapples make me so happy! They remind me of the beautiful beaches of Hawaii which boast the sweetest varieties of tropical fruits! So when I found two of these beautiful little guys I brought them home to showcase their amazing flavors in a unique way.
On the same shopping trip I also bought a new mint plant for my patio garden. So hmmm, mint and pineapple!? OH YES!
This smoothie is insanely refreshing while possessing many cancer fighting benefits from this exotic fruit! Cryptoxanthin is the carotene variety that pineapples and papayas posses. Carotenes are vital to cancer prevention and treatment as they act as anti-oxidants. Other anti-oxicant nutrients in addition to carotene are Vitamin C & E, Selenium, and Zinc. And because of this diversity they work together as a team, which is why it is important to diversify your diet! So along with the stereotypical carrot and the beta-carotene it possesses, make sure that you continue to add the yellow and orange antioxidant rich foods to your diet so they can all work in harmony!
Another incredible ingredient is turmeric! Turmeric possesses curcumin which controls cancer cell activities. It is believed at a fundamental level to calm the over acting cancer cells and promote the healthy cells while repairing the damage that has been done to the cancerous cells. YES food can do this and medicine CAN’T! The other ingredients in this smoothie are extremely cleansing, alkalizing, and serve as incredible anti-inflammatories to your system.

Pineapple Mint Smoothie
1/2 cucumber, peeled
1 handful spinach
1 handful parsley
1 knob of ginger
1 knob of tumeric
1/2 pineapple, peeled and diced
6 mint leaves
1/2 grapefruit, juiced
Blend in a Vitamix with ice and Drink Up!
